Can I Sleep With My Dentures In?

Frequently Asked Question: Can I sleep with my dentures in?

There is a lot of controversy about this topic in the dental community. The most common advice you will hear is to take them out at night to let your gums breath.

However, closing your mouth too far (like if you don’t have dentures in) causes permanent damage to the jaw joint. For this reason, we recommend sleeping with your dentures in. If you do sleep with your dentures in be sure to remove them for an hour every day to let the blood flow to the surface of gums to promote good gum health. Clean well before you go to bed and again when you wake up. If you have natural teeth brush those as well before bed and in the morning.

If you are unsure what you should do the best thing to do is talk to your denturist.
